Title: constr(i)uction
Date: 2015
Media: Multimedia Installation (Various powders, plastic sheeting, hemp cord, head lamp)
Description: One enters as a solo visitor into the space with a head lamp as a light source to illuminate the space. A thin, but impressionable layer of powder covers the floor, changing with every new visitor and accumulating a history of interactions. A cradle-like form of plastic is the centerpiece of the space, with strings pulling the material taut. As the visitor moves around the space with the light, the shadows shift, creating a disillusionment between the shadows and strings. This is a space in which the viewer explores social constructionism in the development of humans during critical periods, creating fixed patterns of thinking and perspective.
